Overview

This position will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training materials that maximize employees’ and the organization’s overall effectiveness, performance, and service to multiple customers. This position will facilitate employee training, and manage training initiatives and projects. This position will work closely with the clinical staff in educating new and existing employees on systems training and processes. This position will be integrated in the clinical department, and will be responsible for department specific tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate new employee and on going training classes for Medical Management employees

  • Design and develop training manuals, leaders’ and participants’ guides based on adult learning methods and interactive training methodologies

  • Design training communications and job aids

  • Manage training initiatives and projects

  • Oversee logistics for training sessions, such as scheduling and preparing materials

  • Perform administrative work in the coordination of continuing education courses and programs

  • Perform department specific tasks (e.g. workload)

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree preferred

  • Active, valid, maintained & unrestricted licensed clinical professional to include LPN, LCSW or RN

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

  • Strong facilitation, design, and development skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to professionally communicate opportunities to trainees and management

  • Commitment to continuously learning and developing self and others

  • Experience documenting processes

  • Professional in mannerisms and/or ability to conduct oneself in a business culture with a dynamic company and work group

  • Ability to accept and incorporate developmental feedback

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Visio and Publisher desirable

  • This positon will be eligible for part time work from home and will require the ability to travel as needed

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience designing training tools or conducting training

  • Experience with VCUHS Health Plan Division computer system tools (e.g. GE/IDX, care management documentation systems, Interqual) or comparable system/tools preferred

  • Experience with VCUHS Health Plan Division operational processes (e.g. medical management processes, etc.) or comparable operational processes preferred

  • Prior training experience in health insurance industry is preferred

  • Prior experience designing computer-based training or systems training is preferred

  • Previous experience working in a Managed Care setting preferred (e.g. Medicare/Medicaid)

  • Or any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
